MOVIMONDO
in partnership with
SECDA-Small
Enterprises and Community Development Association
|
|
Project description |
The project aims at improving the performance
of micro-enterprises in Giza Governorate, strengthening
local business development services providers, such as SECDA
and CDAs Community Development Associations, to deliver
business management training and counselling, that can
enable micro and small entrepreneurs to start and improve
their businesses thereby creating sustainable jobs.
In order to reach this goal the project
intends to establish Business Development Centres (BDCs) at
the premises of 4 selected existing local community-based
organizations –CDAs, which are already providing
micro-credit to local income-generating activities by
managing a revolving fund. |
|
Implementation strategy
|
The project follows a gradual approach;
1. preparing the
CDAs in hosting a BDC by strengthening their institutional
capacity;
2. assisting the
newborn BDCs in training their staff and tutoring the
start-up of their activities;
3. providing
further help for the consolidation and the growth of these
centres, by assisting them in their training (as trainers)
towards existing and potential local entrepreneurs, as well
as in other complementary activities such as promotion,
sensitizing and counselling.
Overall, Movimondo and SECDA will provide the
4 CDAs, which are hosting a BDC and which are beneficiaries
of this project, with financial coverage of start-up costs,
technical and training assistance, as well as institutional
support.
The financial assistance, as well the
technical and training support, will be provided only until
the end of the project. The fundamental mission of this
project is thereby to make CDA-based BDCs financially and
technically sustainable.
The important goal of ensuring financial
sustainability of BDCs will be achieved through three
complementary ways:
-
increasing as much as possible, the share
of cost-recovery paid by micro-entrepreneurs;
-
strengthening synergies between the
non-financial services provided by BDCs and the
micro-credit provision (which is also managed by CDAs);
-
encouraging CDAs in fund-raising and in
improving their capability in attracting assistance from
other donors
