Overall
objective:
to contribute to the redesign of the Egyptian museum system.
Specific objectives:
-
To contribute at
reorganizing the operational capacities of the
Supreme
Council of Antiquities (SCA)
through the implementation of integrated and elaborated
activities for institutional reinforcement;
-
To contribute at enhancing
the operational capacities in terms of organic plans of
interventions and organization of the Egyptian museum, Midan
Tahrir.
Planned
activities and expected results:
The project the
following activities are planned:
1.
Master Plan for the re-organization of the Egyptian Museum,
Tahrir Museum.
The Master Plan
will redesign the outfit of the Museum with the aim of
re-organizing the itineraries of the exhibition and making the
museum more friendly and understandable for the visitors. The
expected results will be measured on the impact of the study, in
terms of concrete solutions to the problem to solve, either
under the point of view of the museologic and museographic
aspects (relation between the museum and the urban spaces
around, architectural restoration and exhibit design), or under
the point of view of the future construction development of new
spaces for additional services (bookshops, restaurants, offices,
laboratories, educational areas, etc.)
2.
Training courses for the staff of the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir
Museum
The training
program for the staff of the Egyptian Museum of Tahrir will be
implemented by the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed
il Restauro (ISCR). The program includes five courses:
a.
Course on prevention, conservation and restoration;
b.
Course on documentation and photography;
c.
Course on exhibition set up and cataloguing
d.
Course on management of libraries and creation of local nets
(intranet)
e.
Course on IT literacy
The Technical
assistance aims at developing the practical and theoretical
capabilities of the participants of the courses with regard to
restoration interventions, global aspects of the museum
conservation, management and financial aspects of the
restoration interventions. Employees are supposed to acquire
professional competences in the field of analysis,
project-planning and management of the conservation activities. |
