Program of support to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency – Phase II

Objective: Appreciation and protection of the environmental resources and safeguarding the cultural and artistic heritage 

Description of the project:

The program continues and expands the experience of the Environmental Program of the Italian Cooperation concluded in 2003. It proposes an integrated initiative with the purpose of protecting and supporting the environment and the resources. Besides establishing a coordination unit, the program, includes 8 components:

1) Decision-Support System for water resources planning

2) Capacity Building of the Department of the Protection of Natural Resources in the Environmental Agency

3) Protected Area of Gabal Elba

4) Protected area of Wady el Rayan

5) Legal and Institutional Framework of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency

6) Management of solid waste in El Minia

7) Environmental Improvement of the Oasis of Siwa

8) Valorization of the artistic heritage of Fayoum and Saqqara
