Objective: Construction of 32 ceramic laboratories

 

Description of the project:

The project involves the completion of 32 handicraft ceramic laboratories in the area of Fustat (Old Cairo). It features in a context of economic and social development targeting the population historically rooted in the area.

The project has been proposed by the Ministry of Tourism also in the aim of conserving and appreciating the indigenous cultural heritage. The area of Fustat is included in the tourist routes and is considered of particular historic interest. The project intends to give possibility to the handworkers of the location to improve their economic conditions and to manufacture the ceramic handicrafts in healthy work conditions.
