projects (IMC)
Total
project budget:
max LE 86millions (USD 15.636.363,63)
Being a natural continuation of a previous initiative carried out in the
framework of the first phase of the Debt for Development Swap Program,
the project will contribute to the creation of a new industrial district
40 km from Cairo specialized in tanning, by introducing innovative
production systems and establishing a wastewater treatment plant.
 The
creation of the leather tanning district is the final step of the
transfer of the tanneries from Old Cairo, Magra el Eion, to the new
area of Robbiki, and will represent the development of a new production
area, together with basic infrastructures for workers community.
The new production area will gather small and medium enterprises,
complemented by further businesses activities, with an increase in job
creation: manufacturers of chemicals, tanning machineries, transport,
services, logistics and plant engineering.
The project is an all-accomplished initiative, geared not only at
improving local population welfare, but also at eliminating one of the
major sources of pollution in Cairo. The introduction of training for
manpower specialized in leather tanning will allow the acquisition of
new skills.
The
introduction of new infrastructures and leather treatment modern
techniques will facilitate the creation of local enterprises that will
enter the tannery labor market.
