Small-Scale Producers Network for Socio-Economic Rights RecognitionSince the planned-economy era, up until the full introduction of the open-door policy, the provision of good welfare conditions to Egyptian population was a cornerstone of the Egyptian Government social policy.

In accordance with the national policies, the Italian NGO – COSPE will create a national network of small-scale handicraft and agriculture enterprises in the Governorates of Aswan, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Minia, Fayoum, Cairo, Giza, Sharkya, Beheira, North Sinai, South Sinai, Matrouh and Red Sea, through Fair Trade practices.

Small-Scale Producers Network for Socio-Economic Rights RecognitionThe project will indeed support the Fair Trade Egypt Foundation by promoting the recognition and protection of marginalized producers’ socio economic rights, by enhancing their representation, participation and negotiation skills regarding institutional building, social security and safety standards.

The initiative will apply the Fair Trade practices and principles, which means a partnership between traders, producers and consumers based on dialogue, transparency and respect.

Fair Trade means:

  • opportunities for disadvantaged producers;

  • transparency and responsibility;

  • equal prices;

  • gender equality; s

  • afe and healthy working place;

  • fight child labor;

  • environmental sustainability;

  • solidarity, trust and mutual respect.
